National Alpaca Farm Days - Preparing

NAFD is an annual event that happens all over the United States; alpaca farms are open to the public to give visitors a taste of the "alpaca lifestyle". We typically have over500 visitors each year...visitors are taking a selfie taken with an alpaca, visiting the Great Pyrenees livestock guardians, chickens and the bees, and checking out our newly enlarged studio and country Mercantile, The Fuzzy Wuzzy! Put us on the Calendar! NAFD is September 28-29, 2020 this year and the farm will be open both days from Noon to 4pm! Come Out and Have Some Fun!

Training Alpacas is Such Fun!

Well, I have been working with the show string two or three times per week now for two weeks in preparation for going to CABA this year in May. We started with a "midline catch" and then a "bracelet" hold...a few select head and mouth works, introduction of the halter and then introduction of the lead. Tonite was the first time I took each of them outside the catch pen and into the "real world"...several were pretty obstinate and several were fairly accepting...I just love this part because they catch on so fast...

Sandollar's Fuzzy Wuzzy Studio & Farm Store

Most of our customers know that we had an alpaca boutique store in downtown Kennewick, WA for several years. It was a great way to get to know a lot of new customers and introduce them to alpacas and the products available from their fleece.

Collins is also an extremely talented leather artisan, and it was also a wonderful to showcase all the custom leather goods that Collins is able to produce! Think cell phone and tablet cases, holsters, belts, etc.

We found it more difficult than expected to take care of both the farm and the store, so during the Fall of 2018 we finished a new space about twice as large as our downtown store in our large shop building on the farm. We just LOVE IT and we hope our customers do as well because now they can shop and visit the alpacas at the same time! Nikki moved her office back to the farm as well and so now we are both here to greet customers, give tours, as well as take care of the farm.

Our new expanded hours are from 1pm to 5pm Friday and Saturday or by appointment! Call 509.378.5833 and schedule a private time with Collins!

Lots of new items are arriving in the store, and of course, Collins continues to make all sorts of custom leather accessories and gun leather for folks. We can't wait to show it to you!
